Knoxville’s remarkable season came to an abrupt end, as Pensacola closed out the first round playoff series 4-2. Scott Cuthrell and Anthony McVeigh had given the Bears a 2-1 lead going into the third period. But Pensacola scored two goals in a minute and a half in the third to cruise to the win.

Knoxville has added (G) Cody Porter on a Standard Player Contract. Cody rejoins the Ice Bears after spending parts of the last two seasons in Knoxville. He most recently played this season with Zaglebie Sosnowiec in Poland. (F) Stepan Timofeyev has been placed on waivers.

Huntsville snapped Knoxville’s home win streak at 12 on Wizard Night. Mathew Barnaby scored at 1:12 of overtime to give Huntsville the 4-3 win. Knoxville had fought back from a 3-1 deficit on goals by Mathieu Roy and Jacob Benson to knot the game. Game Summary.




Knoxville’s Austyn Roudebush Named Warrior Hockey/Sphl Player of the Month.

The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced that goaltender Austyn Roudebush of the Knoxville Ice Bears has been named the Warrior Hockey/SPHL Player of the Month for March. Roudebush went 8-1-0 for the month, posting a 1.20 goals-against average, a 0.959 save percentage.

The Ice Bears roared out of March with a 3-0 win in Huntsville. Johnny Curran scored twice to front Peter DiSalvo’s 33 saves. The win makes Di Salvo the career leader in SPHL history. Brett Beauvais took a pass from Mathieu Roy and buried the game winner with 18 seconds left in OT to lift the Bears to a 3-2 win over Birmingham. Roy and Jacob Benson had tied it with 3rd period goals a minute apart. The tenth consecutive win is a franchise record for Knoxville. Game Summary.

Austyn Roudebush stopped 48 of 49 shots, plus all five in the shootout, to pace the Ice Bears to a 2-1 win in Pensacola. Andrew McLean got the only shootout goal for his second game winner in as many nights. The Ice Bears have now won eight straight.
